These fluorescent tubes are also known as CCFL tubes.When these CCFL tubes reach the end of their service life, the usual effect is that nothing can be read on the LCD display of the Korg Oasys. The first impression is usually that the display is defective.How can I check whether the display is completely defective or whether only the backlight has failed?If only the backlight has failed, it is usually possible to see the text if you look very closely, usually from a very steep angle. Users usually know what is normally displayed on the screen. It is also possible to shine a flashlight on the display. Then the text is usually still quite easy to see. We offer a replacement kit for the backlighting in the Korg Oasys LCD.With this kit, you can replace the CCFL tubes with modern LED strips. Everything is screwed. No soldering required.Mechanical hints for the replacement of the OLED display in the Yamaha DX5:The mechanical effort required to remove the display from the instrument is relatively simple in this case. The cover of the synthesizer can be lifted up after loosening a few screws. Now the circuit board on which the display is mounted must be unscrewed. The display itself is screwed on and the cable is plugged in.Snipping off the metal tab:The OLED display is inserted into metal brackets in the Yamaha DX5. A small metal tab needs to be snipped off here. This can be done using a pair of side cutters.Recommendation:Disconnect the circuitry that generated the backlight voltage for the old display. Simply cut off two components using small side cutters.Instructions are included with the display.Note on OLED technology:OLED - organic light-emitting diode.
