Ready-to-plug prepared OLED display for replacement in Yamaha DX5. The new OLED display is supplied by us with a new cable ready to plug in. Everything is screwed. No soldering required.

Mechanical hints for the replacement of the OLED display in the Yamaha DX5:

The mechanical effort required to remove the display from the instrument is relatively simple in this case. The cover of the synthesizer can be lifted up after loosening a few screws. Now the circuit board on which the display is mounted must be unscrewed. The display itself is screwed on and the cable is plugged in.

Snipping off the metal tab:
The OLED display is inserted into metal brackets in the Yamaha DX5. A small metal tab needs to be snipped off here. This can be done using a pair of side cutters.

Recommendation:
Disconnect the circuitry that generated the backlight voltage for the old display. Simply cut off two components using small side cutters.

Note on OLED technology:

OLED - organic light-emitting diode. The advantage of OLED technology is that each pixel is illuminated. This makes the OLED display easy to read from all sides, even from extreme viewing angles. Furthermore, it is also very easy to read in sunlight.

Lifetime of OLED Display:

The lifetime is specified by the manufacturer with 50,000 operating hours. After this specified drive time, the display still has 50% of its original luminosity.
