The MPC-4000 was first introduced in 2002 and is the flagship of the AKAI Music Production Center series. Whether at home, in the studio, or in the club, the sampler is an indispensable tool for music production. With its large display and the possibility to expand the internal memory up to 512 MB, this device was, and still is, the centre of music production. Another highlight is that the MPC 4000 can process samples with 24 bit and 96 khz. This makes high-quality samples possible.
But high-quality samplers like the Akai MPC 4000 are also devices that must reliably withstand continuous use.
The six knobs of the MPC4000, the two sliders and the rotary encoder, however, are subject to a natural ageing process, as is the display of the MPC 4000. The same applies to the numerous buttons for menu navigation on the MPC 4000, or the stereo jack sockets on the back of the unit. These also have a limited lifespan. Some buttons are used more often, and therefore wear out faster than others.
