E-mu
Founded in 1971 in Santa Cruz, California, USA, by two students, Dave Rossum and Scott Wedge, the company developed a patented, digitally sampled polyphonic keyboard in 1972, after first achieving financial success by building a modular synthesizer. Licensees for these keyboards were Oberheim and later Sequential Circuits. After a chequered history, E-mu was still convincing as a manufacturer of sound card chips in the 1980s, but also produced a well-known sampler, synthesiser and, above all, modular synthesiser systems, which were sold to such famous musicians as Herbie Hancock and Frank Zappa.
The most famous device produced by E-mu is probably the drum computer E-mu SP-12, and its successor SP-1200. Both devices are still very popular in the hip-hop and dance producer scene because of their rough lo-fi sound. Also, the strict timing of this device has always been praised.
But E-mu also had great success with the Emulator, a sampler that was launched as early as 1981. These devices were also used by the greats of the music industry at the time, and also brought a certain financial success.
Later, however, it was precisely this success that failed to materialise, and so the company with its numerous patents was bought up several times by other manufacturers

As is the case with many old devices, certain components of E-mu samplers are prone to weakening due to age.
For example, it is the displays that we often replace with modern LCD displays when the original displays are only barely legible. We offer different display versions for different E-mu devices, which differ in colour, for example. You can choose from four different displays with LED backlighting for your E-mu E4K, or your E-mu E-IV. When replacing a display, you should also consider replacing the devices internal battery, as the service life of devices from the 80s is probably already well over.
Another component that often reduces the fun of playing is the instrument or menu button. These were also not built to function until the end of the world.
Unfortunately, the power supply, which is used in many E-mu devices, namely the E-mu E4K, the E-mu E6400, in the E-mu E4 Platinum, to name but a few, also has a limited lifespan.

Our spare parts must not only be functionally convincing, they must also be perfectly compatible. We guarantee this through our own test procedures, which we use to test devices over several days with the new assembly or the new display.
Standard components such as capacitors, which, like batteries, also belong to the components in old synthesizers, samplers and drum machines that can only be attributed a limited lifespan, are also professionally replaced by those that have been specially designed and manufactured for use in audio equipment.
