The display in the Korg Oasys is a classic LCD display with backligh. The backligh is provided by small fluorescent tubes. These fluorescent tubes are also known as CCFL tubes.When these CCFL tubes reach the end of their service life, the usual effect is that nothing can be read on the LCD display of the Korg Oasys. The first impression is usually that the display is defective.

How can I check whether the display is completely defective or whether only the backlight has failed?

If only the backlight has failed, it is usually possible to see the text if you look very closely, usually from a very steep angle. Users usually know what is normally displayed on the screen. It is also possible to shine a flashlight on the display. Then the text is usually still quite easy to see.
 

We offer a replacement kit for the backlighting in the Korg Oasys LCD.

With this kit, you can replace the CCFL tubes with modern LED strips. The LED strips come with the control electronics that we supply.

Notes on installing the backlight in the Korg Oasys:

Please be aware that this modification requires you to tamper with the LCD display. Doing so may result in the complete destruction of the LCD display. This work requires calmness, patience, and perseverance. It is also important to work with precision.

Safety advice to CCFL tubes:

These neon tubes are very sensitive. Handling and mounting must be done very very carefully.
The fluorescent tubes are operated with a high voltage of approx. 180V AC. Please observe the corresponding safety regulations of the VDE.
