4-zone hammer action in Roland PHA Keyboard:With the 4-zone hammer action, Roland tries to get even closer to the feel of a mechanical grand piano as it was possible with the previous hammer action keyboards. The keystroke of a mechanical piano is different depending on the zone, whether bass or in the high range. This is simulated in the PHA keyboard by the fact that there are four different hammers with different weights.
The 4 zones are divided slightly differently depending on the design of the keyboard:
Zone 1, Bass - 22 - 24 notes
Zone 2, middle1 - 22 - 24 notes
Zone 3, middle2 - 22 - 24 notes
Zone 4, soprano - 16 - 22 notes
Pressure point simulation in Roland PHA Keyboard:On a grand piano, the pianist can press the key to the point where the hammer hits the string. This point can be felt and is called the pressure point. On the Roland PHA3 keyboard, this is simulated by a rubber lip.
Mechanical construction of Roland PHA Keyboard:The base frame of the keyboard is made of sheet steel and is very stable and torsion-resistant. All other components are attached to this frame by screws or clamps. The keyboard as a whole is very easy to maintain.
