To replace the plastic shaft encoder in the AKAI MPC 1000.

Encoder with plastic shaft: The wiring on the board has to be changed. We include instructions on how to do this with the order. For this work you need soldering skills and a piece of insulated wire.

Mechanical note for the MPC1000 encoder:

The axis of the encoder is approx. 0.5 mm longer than the axis of the original encoder in the MPC 1000. It can happen in rare cases that the encoder wheel scrapes the housing.

Note on the OS version in the MPC1000:

with older versions of the operating system in the MPC 1000 it can be that the encoder shows a different behavior. In this case please update to the current JJ OS.

Practical advice:

These encoder is firmly soldered to a circuit board. For replacing craftsmanship and experience in soldering is required.
