In a series of these keyboards there was a problem with so-called hanging keys caused by the use of an unsuitable plastic grease.
The key is clicked into the keyboard frame at the rear end. Yamaha originally used white grease here. This plastic grease has attacked the plastic of the key's. In the long run, this led to a material break at the back side of the key's (see photo 2).
By this material break, the key is a bit wrong and thereby strikes the key next to it, dragging and is thus difficult (hangs). Instruments affected between May 2000 and January 2003 are affected.
Today Yamaha uses a blue keyboard grease which is suitable for the plastic keys. If you still find this white grease in your keyboard, it is recommended to remove this grease and replace it with the blue one. For a keyboard should be 10 to 20 grams of grease.
The Yamaha GHD keyboard is a velocity-sensitive keyboard, which comes in 2 versions.
With a 4-zone hammer mechanism and a simple hammer mechanism in which all hammers are equally weighted.
The base frame of the keyboard is made of plastic and is therefore very light. All other components are attached to this frame by screws or clamps.
The white Keys have a size in cm of 2,2x21x4,2, the black Keys 2,2x19,2x5,9 cm.
