Roland HP-330 or HP-530 with no sound

Roland HP-330 or HP-530 with no sound

A typical, age-related fault with the Roland HP-330 or Roland HP-530 digital piano is that it no longer emits any sound or that the sound is distorted.

In the meantime we have had the Roland HP-330 or HP-530 digital pinao in our workshop for repair several times. It turns out that the error pattern is quite similar. Either the electric piano is completely silent, as in headphone mode, or there are still sounds that are distorted or have a strong background noise.

In any case, it is important to first carry out a precise fault analysis.
Questions I always ask before a repair:

  • What is it like in headphone mode? Is the fault the same or different?
  • Do you hear a relay click after switching on?
In the Roland HP-330 or Roland HP-530 there is a switch-on delay for speakers. Just like a good HIFI amplifier. It is important to know if this relay works normal or not before a repair.
  • Can you operate the electric piano on user panel? Is it possible to change sound from electric piano to organ or similar.
  • Are there still MIDI signals if you work with MIDI?
